Look at it this way…

What you are now looking at represents more than just a blog post.

What you are really seeing is a stage…

And these words are my performance.

  1. Precisely. It’s amazing how technology changes the way we express ourselves, but not necessarily the act of expressing.

    • On one level I certainly agree with you. On another I wonder who has more responsibility for the veracity and understanding of a performance, the audience or the actor…

      • R. Todd says:

Having been a stage actor (amatuer at best) and a writer (probably more amatuer still), I would have to say that the purveyor has the bulk of responsibility. However, when the purvey-ee does not appreciate, or worse…glosses over, the work, it has a way of muting the soul of the creator. I know there are those who are talented in other areas that mock or belittle my talents because writing takes time to absorb, whereas looking at a photo is instant gratification. It’s more just frustrating than anything.

        • Well, we can only do so much. And least of what we can do is dictate, or often even predict, how others will respond to what we do. We do our best and then we let it go as we move on to our next effort. Write on, my friend.

I was feeling that today…how much like a huge movie set the world has become.

    • Well then, you’re certainly in good company, Shannon.

All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players: they have their exits and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages. ~ William Shakespeare
