London ❤

I fell in love with London in 2005.

My heart yearns always to return to it…

And aches presently from its pain.

  1. I was born in London, and I was there yesterday, at work. I was scared. I won’t be cowed.It’s a fantastic city. x

    Composed upon Westminster Bridge, September 3, 1802

    Earth has not anything to show more fair:
    Dull would he be of soul who could pass by
    A sight so touching in its majesty:
    This City now doth, like a garment, wear
    The beauty of the morning; silent, bare,
    Ships, towers, domes, theatres, and temples lie
    Open unto the fields, and to the sky;
    All bright and glittering in the smokeless air.
    Never did sun more beautifully steep
    In his first splendour, valley, rock, or hill;
    Ne’er saw I, never felt, a calm so deep!
    The river glideth at his own sweet will:
    Dear God! the very houses seem asleep;
    And all that mighty heart is lying still!
    (William Wordsworth)

    1. That’s a beautiful poem filled with the spirit of a beautiful city with a mighty heart. Thank you for sharing it with us, Margaret, you, too, filled with that same spirit from that same mighty heart. Like it, stay strong.

  2. Wonderful. The most beautiful city in the world, and not just because it inspired writers like Chaucer, Shakespeare and Dickens. I was born there although I no longer live there. Love to all Londoners💗
