Alter

Yeah, I DNF most horror films because, let’s face it, most horror films are crap…

But last night I watched a rather decent one written and directed by Irish/Welsh film maker Liam Gavin called A DARK SONG.

A determined young woman and a damaged occultist risk their lives and souls to perform a dangerous ritual that will grant them what they want.

It’s a beautifully shot, refreshing twist on an old trope — someone loses someone they love and turns to the occult for palliative effect.

I may have mentioned this before — I’m too lazy to check — but lately since most horror found on Netflix and elsewhere are crap, as previously mentioned, I’ve been getting my cinematic horror fix in short film doses from a fantastic youtube site called Alter.

Here, courtesy of Alter, is another creative twist on the grieving someone turns to the occult to relieve their grief trope that is extremely well-presented in only a matter of minutes.

Not bad, eh?

  1. Yep, there aren’t many real decent horror films out there, or at least they start off great and then the ending normally falls short .. ‘The Conjuring’ series is pretty good
