You have got to be kidding me…

Omicron?!

Really?!

Couldn’t they have forgone the Greek alphabet for this variant of the Covid virus and come up with a less frightening, end of times name to call it?!

On Friday evening, the World Health Organization gave the variant the name Omicron. “This variant has a large number of mutations, some of which are concerning,” the W.H.O. said in its official description. “Preliminary evidence suggests an increased risk of reinfection with this variant.”

  1. Dear Kurt

Thank you for your post. As regards the name, they could have come up with Oh my god!, but that could be reserved for omega, so I can see why they didn’t.

In reality the reason is that omicron is an anagram of moronic, so not scary at all. This is because people have to be moronic to believe all the rubbish about variants etc. I have tried to explain this in my latest post if you are interested at all.

    • And I thought my posts rambled on. Wow. Yours takes it to a new level. Pretty impressive actually; however, I made it only about a quarter of the way through before I gave up and began scrolling and scrolling and scrolling until I finally reached the end where I found a summary that said it all and unfortunately what I had suspected all along…

      • Yes, my apologies for length, I find myself running away with it. I could do it as an executive summary at the start, followed up by the bulk.

I have done a very long post on the Welsh Coronavirus guidance which is probably 3/4 longer again! It might have been better to split the current post in two parts, and perhaps I ought to consider that.

I think if the posts are well headed and broken down that makes a huge difference – I have seen some excessively long paragraphs on some sites with what is otherwise good material, so the impact is lost.

As I am the only one proof reading and editing my posts, I will always take on board comments to try and refine them if I agree.
