DEATH AND DELIVERANCE
by Gravis Kartweeler
graviskartweeler.com

For all of eternity, this moment –
this flash, this breath, this life.
I will miss me when I’m gone.
No matter the reality after,
This is here, now, all.
No fairy tale can change my ending.

I will grieve this place –
its majesty and harshness,
all of it.
I will mourn the me that I was –
that I’ve become,
that I never will be.
I will ache for this wholeness –
this residence of flesh,
it’s feel, and its feeling.

I will grieve like a child –
un-mothered,
un-fathered,
un-done.
Un-burdened,
letting go the claim of self –
destroyed as it is freed.

Tears dried, blind to what’s next –
as the babe delivered here,
I will go into the unknown
or the nothing,
glad to have walked
in my skin.
Trusting the force
that brought me here,
to deliver me again.
