What’s My Name, Again?

And here I thought it was going to be such a dramatic hassle to change the name of my novel from The Sea Trials of an Unfortunate Sailor to Inside the Skin.

I mean, I’ve been wanting to change it for quite a while now but kept putting it off thinking it would take a grand act of our dysfunctional Congress for it to happen.

But guess what?

Yup, you guessed it… it was a delicious piece of cake.

Seriously, for Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), all I had to do was go in and edit the book details to reflect the new name. Same for Smashwords, the service I use to distribute my books beyond Amazon.

For the paperback, there was a bit more work involved…

Scout…and doubt

I am learning so much from the wonderful members of WRITE EDIT WRITE, our private facebook group for writers and readers. For example, this fantastic post by Author Kathy Cecala I am reblogging for your convenience and possible instruction here.

Are any of you participating in or even aware of this KINDLE SCOUT thingy? If so, what are your thoughts, I wonder.

Let me know. And please check out Kathy’s article and then go visit her Scout page and nominate her book!

Please. :)

Hello, friends. I am releasing HERCULES GONE MAD and each subsequent book of the HEROES OF DYSTOPIA saga in serialized format, as books were once released in the classic tradition of science fiction writing of days past. I am doing this so that, hopefully, I can get new editions out to you quickly, get your feedback, and incorporate that feedback just as quickly into subsequent editions. Consequently, your feedback and support will be critical to this serialized process. The stories will first be available as ebooks, and then, once all parts of each book have been released, as a completed print edition book.

Each serialized edition of this and subsequent books will be initially released exclusively from Amazon for its Kindle reader. Depending on their success, they will then be released in all other major ebook formats (Nook, Sony Reader, Kobo, IBook, etc.), in addition to a print edition. If you do not have an ebook reader, you can download the free Kindle app from Amazon and read the book online, on your phone, or whatever your preferred reader may be.

If you would like to contact me to discuss my writing, such as providing me feedback on how I can improve the HEROES OF DYSTOPIA saga, or anything else germane to our mutual interests, you can drop me a line by visiting kurtbrindley.com/contact/ and filling out the form, by leaving a comment on the HEROES OF DYSTOPIA page, or by emailing me directly at me@kurtbrindley.com.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my work. I look forward to hearing from you. Until then, stay tuned for Part Two of HERCULES GONE MAD. It’s coming soon!

Book Release Strategy

THE SEA TRIALS OF AN UNFORTUNATE SAILOR will be available soon!Seeing that I basically have no name recognition, it is going to be a long, hard slog trying to get folks to read THE SEA TRIALS OF AN UNFORTUNATE SAILOR once I release it. Consequently, I am going to have to come up with some novel and not so novel (pun intended) means of marketing it.

Here’ what I have so far:

I will be releasing THE SEA TRIALS OF AN UNFORTUNATE SAILOR on Saturday, February 19, 2011, via Kindle and as a pdf download from this website.

The book will be available for free until Friday, March 4, 2011.

For anyone who provides a book review on Amazon between February 19 and March 4, regardless if it is a positive or negative review, I will send them an advanced copy of POEMS FROM THE RIVER, a collection of poems that I will be releasing on March 5, 2011.

Beginning Saturday, March 5, 2011, the price to purchase THE SEA TRIALS OF AN UNFORTUNATE SAILOR will be $2.99.

Beginning Saturday, March 5, 2011, the price to purchase POEMS FROM THE RIVER will be $.99.

That’s it for a book release strategy…that’s all I got so far.

Let me know if you have any other ideas that you think may help get the word out about the book.

Now that I set a release deadline for myself, I guess I had better stop hemming and hawing and get busy on the final edits.
