  1. Kurt, thanks for sharing de Maupassant’s cheery view on existence. What can one expect, however, from a writer, along with others, who liked nothing better than to dine beneath the much maligned Eiffel Tower in order that he couldn’t see it. For a good belly laugh, I recommend Poe. [that last statement might be facetious, and I apologise to Poe’s spirit, as I think he was a wonderful writer]. Good likeness. You’ve captured the sadness, Kurt.
